Construction work on two major projects has begun in central Khost
Construction work on two important retaining walls along the Shamal Grand Canal in the Shamooni and Bangi Bagh areas of the provincial capital of Khost has officially begun in a special ceremony.
Officials say the two projects are being built as part of a stabilization program, which will be completed in 45 days at a cost of seven million, three hundred and fifty-eight thousand afghanis.
On behalf of Khost Governor's Office, Mobarez Mohammad Zadran, Spokesman and Press Officer of Khost, Eng. Mohammad Usman Mahidi, Director of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Qaimat Khan Mangal, Member of Provincial Council Deputy Dr. Naqibullah Mandozai, a large number of civil society activists, tribal elders, youth and locals were present.
Mobarez Mohammad Zadran, spokesman for the governor's office, told the media that for the first time, reconstruction projects were being launched in five districts as well as in the center of Khost under the SICA program. The leadership of the provincial administration has made many efforts, as a result of which thirteen new projects have been approved for the central areas of Khost.
According to him, the retaining wall of Bangi Bagh is 300 meters long, 3 meters high and one meter wide. The height of the meter is one meter and the width of the meter is seventy centimeters. Both projects will save 4,500 acres of agricultural land from flood damage.
Zadran also said that 7,021 people would be employed in the two projects, which would have a significant impact on lowering the unemployment rate.
He said the provincial government was always trying to implement important projects in the capital and districts based on the demands and needs of the people, in order to meet the needs of the people on the one hand and provide jobs to the people in their areas on the other.
According to him, so far eighty-eight projects have been implemented in Ismail Khel Mandozai, Nadir Shah Kot, Taniu, Garbzo and Zazi Maidan districts under the stabilization program and forty more are under construction. Dams, sports stadiums in schools, canals, canals, school fences and other utility projects are among the projects that have provided employment opportunities to the people of the area and provided better employment opportunities to many unemployed people. Mohammad Zadran, spokesman for the governor's office and spokesman for the media, said the importance of the stabilization program was due to the fact that all the work was being done in accordance with the will of the people and was currently operating in five districts and the center of the province. Zadar also said that all the projects undertaken by SICA have been continuously monitored by the Provincial Administration Monitoring Team, local people as well as SICA engineers, who have so far carried out the construction work well. Engineer Mohammad Usman Mahidi, director of the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department, said that in the districts where the people have been guaranteed to work, five important programs have been started under the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department. Osman Mehdi added that the SICA or Stability Program in Khost province is running very successfully due to the good care and cooperation of the provincial administration, so far no problem has been encountered in any area or district, but if If this program continues in this way, it is possible that there will be a significant increase in the budget.
Provincial council member Qaimat Khan Mangal expressed happiness over the construction of retaining walls and said that with the implementation of these projects, a large number of agricultural lands and people's houses in the area would be saved from the threat of floods.
